Learner’s Bill of Rights

School librarians, library and technology directors, and other educators from across the state met April 23, 2008, and unanimously accepted "Standards for the 21st Century Learner" as the NEW standards to use in the library and with all learners. This committee also developed a document entitled the "Learner's Bill of Rights".

The "Learner's Bill of Rights" has been endorsed by the Colorado School Library Leaders (CoSLL).

Learner’s Bill of Rights

The Learner has the right to:

question and be curious.

have personal ideas.

choose how to learn and share understanding.

plan and participate in learning at a level that’s appropriate.

grapple with challenging ideas or concepts.

access the information and resources needed.

participate in and contribute to a learning network.

think critically, solve problems and make decisions.

make mistakes and learn from them.

reflect on learning.

The “Learner’s Bill of Rights” is endorsed by CoSLL Fall 2008.
