North Mor Elementary shout-outs those with Viking Values

- Focus on Students
As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system, we focus on a different Viking Value each month to encourage our students to exhibit. Our Social Emotional Learning specialists do a read-aloud in each classroom with a book specifically chosen to discuss the monthly Viking Value, and at the end of the month, we honor one student from each class who exhibited the value. This year, as a way to be more inclusive and celebrate more students who are exhibiting our Viking Value we created a Viking Value bulletin board. The bulletin board displays our value, the definition of the value, a quote about the value, and a "shout-out" section for adults in the building to provide "shout-outs" to students they observe exhibiting the value throughout the month. These shout-outs are read on the intercom during morning announcements, the student then receives a special visit from one of our Social Emotional Learning Specialists, along with a free kids meal gift certificate to celebrate and encourage their amazing progress as a North Mor Viking!!!
This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Social-Emotional Learning. Sharing stories about how the district provides innovative social-emotional programming and practices to students across all schools.
