Final Newsletter of the Year!

Good Morning North Mor Families and Friends, 

I hope that this email finds you doing well as we are nearing the final week of the 2022-2023 school year.  It’s hard to believe how fast this year has gone by!   In this final week, I look forward to celebrating alongside teachers and students the amazing growth that students have made over the course of the year. 

This week, we have several things to support the transition as we mark the end of this year and welcome the upcoming year!

On Tuesday, May 23, students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade will participate in what is traditionally known here at North Mor as “Move Up Day”.  During a short period of time, students will transition to meet their new teacher and new classmates to begin to build community and help to create a sense of connection before summer.   Classroom assignments will be sent home with students on Monday afternoon.  

On Wednesday, May 24th, we will have our final “Viking Value” assembly recognizing students who have been selected for demonstrating a “positive attitude”.  Additionally, we are recognizing several students during the afternoon assembly, for having been selected to donate their art work to the North Mor art collection that is displayed proudly throughout the building.  Students’ art work was selected based on the votes tallied during Celebration of Learning and through staff voting.  

On  Wednesday, May 24th from 5 - 6 pm, all community members are invited to meet the candidates for North Mor’s next principal.  During this event, each candidate will give a short presentation about themselves and be able to answer questions from community members.  At the end of all presentations, families will give feedback that will help inform the superintendent as he makes the final decision.  

On Thursday, May 25th, we will have continuation ceremonies for both kindergarten and fifth grade students.  The kindergarten continuation will take place from 8:30-9:15; the fifth grade continuation ceremony will take place from 10-11.  If you are planning to excuse your child after the ceremony, please make sure to bring your ID as we will require normal check out procedures for the safety of our students.  

As with any end of the year, we have staff members who will be leaving North Mor to explore new options and new pathways; please send them well wishes as they transition to new places!  Staff who will not be returning to North Mor:

And finally, while the end of year always brings about changes, the end of this year certainly feels bittersweet.  As you are aware, I will be leaving North Mor to serve in a neighboring school.  I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the North Mor community for four years and have truly loved the students, staff and the families.  Thank you for an amazing journey here at North Mor - your kiddos will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Buenos días familias y amigos de North Mor, 

Espero que este correo electrónico los encuentre bien ya que nos acercamos a la última semana del año escolar 2022-2023.  ¡Es difícil creer lo rápido que ha pasado este año!   En esta semana final, espero celebrar junto con los maestros y estudiantes el increíble crecimiento que los estudiantes han hecho en el transcurso del año. 

¡Esta semana, tenemos varias cosas para apoyar la transición mientras marcamos el final de este año y damos la bienvenida al próximo año!

El Martes, 23 de Mayo, los estudiantes de kinder a 4 º grado participarán en lo que tradicionalmente se conoce aquí en North Mor como "Día del ascender".  Durante un corto período de tiempo, los estudiantes harán la transición para conocer a su nuevo maestro/a y nuevos compañeros de clase para comenzar a construir comunidad y ayudar a crear un sentido de conexión antes del verano. Las tareas de clase serán enviadas a casa con los estudiantes el Lunes por la tarde.

El Miércoles, 24 de Mayo, tendremos nuestra asamblea final de "Valores Vikingos" reconociendo a los estudiantes que han sido seleccionados por demostrar una "actitud positiva".  Además, vamos a reconocer a varios estudiantes durante la asamblea de la tarde, por haber sido seleccionados para donar sus obras de arte a la colección de arte de North Mor que se muestra con orgullo en todo el edificio.  Las obras de arte de los estudiantes fueron seleccionadas en base a los votos obtenidos durante la Celebración del Aprendizaje y a través de la votación del personal.

El Miércoles, 24 de Mayo de 5 - 6 pm, todos los miembros de la comunidad están invitados a conocer a los candidatos para el próximo/a Principal de North Mor.  Durante este evento, cada candidato dará una breve presentación sobre sí mismos y responderá a las preguntas de los miembros de la comunidad.  Al final de todas las presentaciones, las familias darán comentarios que ayudará a informar al superintendente al tomar la decisión final.  

El Jueves, 25 de Mayo, tendremos ceremonias de continuación tanto para los alumnos de kinder como para los de quinto grado.  La continuación de kindergarten tendrá lugar de 8:30-9:15; la ceremonia de continuación de quinto grado tendrá lugar de 10-11.  Si usted está planeando excusar a su hijo después de la ceremonia, por favor asegúrese de traer su identificación ya que requerimos los procedimientos normales de salida para la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes. 

Como en muchos finales de año, tenemos miembros del personal que dejarán a North Mor para explorar nuevas opciones y nuevos caminos; ¡por favor envíenos buenos deseos en su transición a nuevos lugares!  Personal que no regresará a North Mor:

Y finalmente, aunque el fin de año siempre trae cambios, el fin de este año ciertamente se siente agridulce.  Como ustedes saben, voy a dejar North Mor para servir en una escuela vecina.  He tenido la suerte de ser parte de la comunidad de North Mor por cuatro años y realmente he amado a los estudiantes, al personal y a las familias.  Gracias por un viaje increíble aquí en North Mor - sus niños siempre tendrán un lugar especial en mi corazón.
